BBQ Baked Beans

    Ingredients

    · 1 lb. bacon
    · 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
    · 1 cup chopped onion
    · 1 cup sugar
    · 1/2 cup brown sugar
    · 2/3 cup ketchup
    · 1/4 cup maple syrup
    · 15 oz. can butter beans
    · 15 oz. can dark red kidney beans
    · 15 oz. can light red kidney beans
    · 15 oz. can black beans
    · 2 15 oz. or 1 28 oz. can baked beans
    · 2/3 cup BBQ sauce
    · 3 tbsp. yellow mustard
    · 1 tbsp. chili powder (or more)


    Preheat oven to 350°. Brown the ground beef and onions together in a large skillet. Drain meat and then pour meat and onions into a large roasting pan. Cook bacon in skillet, dice and add to roaster. Drain butter beans, kidney beans, and black beans and then pour into roaster. Add cans of baked beans (undrained) along with all the other remaining ingredients. Mix well. Cover and bake for 1 hour.

    I have doubled and even quadrupled this recipe successfully. The leftovers freeze and reheat really well, and it's always a big hit. Also, don't be afraid to taste test the sauce before you bake it all. I almost always tweak the amount of chili powder, BBQ sauce, and mustard before I put it all in the oven
